Indians Start AABC Enid Tournament

The Doenges Ford Indians are back in action after a couple of days off and will head right back to David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid for the AABC Red River Regional Qualifier tournament. Bartlesville will look to snap a four-game skid against the Enid Majors, a team that handed them two of those losses last weekend. The Indians were outscored by Enid 26-4. Indians manager John Pannell expects to see more tough competition this weekend.

Former Bruin and current Eastern Oklahoma State player Dakota Ward is expected to be a difference maker. Ward was inactive for last weekend’s quartet. Despite playing in just eight of the team’s 14 games, Ward leads the Indians with 12 runs batted in. He also has a team best four extra base hits, including an inside-the-park home run against St. Paul. Pannell says Ward brings so many qualities to the team.

Other offensive leaders include former Bruins Harald Borg and Andrew Harden who each have 15 hits. The Indians square off with Enid tonight at 6 p.m. Radio coverage on KWON AM 1400—FM 93.3. KWON TV will not be available for Wednesday’s game.

The Indians then will play individual games each day between Thursday and Saturday in the event. If they finish top two in their pool they will advance to the knockout round on Sunday.
