Huskies Excited to Get 2019 Season Started

Football practice starts next week and the town of Pawhuska is excited about the 2019 season after the Huskies went 6-5 a year ago. The 2017 squad went 0-10.

Pawhuska returns its starting quarterback in Bryce Drummond, along with senior running back Easton Kirk and play makers Cade McNeil and JT Waddle at the receiver position. The one big difference for this coming season is that head coach Matt Hennesy will be taking over the play calling duties on offense for Scott Sapulpa, who left to become the head coach at Hulbert.

The Huskies took part in 7-on-7 team camps throughout the summer and Hennesy said he saw his team get better throughout each drill they participated in.

Bill Williams, a long time coach in the state of Oklahoma, will coach the defense. The Huskies kick off the 2019 campaign with a home game against Kellyville on Friday, Aug. 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
