A rivalry game is set to take place at Dewey High School as the Ironmen come to town. The Doggers will have plenty of first’s including new scoreboard logos, new uniforms and several new starters playing their first home games on the turf at Bulldogger Stadium.

Dewey is coming off a convincing 60-0 loss against Adair last week.

The gameplan is similar to last season for the Doggers, who ran for 389 yards and five touchdowns in a 63-0 beat down in Nowata. Dewey head coach Tyler Caid says the plan is to go up tempo at times to utilize the Doggers roster advantage.

Caid went on to say that defensive pursuit will be key for the Doggers. The Doggers head coach also praised Nowata quarterback Skylar Thornton who will be starting this rivalry game for the second time.

Thornton will be making his eleventh career start on Friday and has 10 career touchdown passes to his name. The senior gunslinger did struggle in this matchup last year, but he knows the passing attack will be a big part of this year’s gameplan.

Thornton lost his top two targets to graduation from last year, but Ironmen head coach Bob Craig sees good things from this year’s pass-catchers.

The Ironmen and the Doggers have split the last fourteen meetings in this rivalry. Pregame coverage begins at 6:40 p.m. on KRIG 104.9 FM. Stay tuned after the ballgame for the presentation of the Adam Hooper Trophy.
