High School Officials Still Needed

High school football practice will kick off in a week, and games are about 3.5 weeks away from beginning.

The state of Oklahoma is still dealing with an official’s shortage, which means they are on an all-out blitz to try to attract new officials to the game.

President of the Bartlesville Officials Association Kevin Lynch says pay has been raised over the past couple years. Lynch talks about some of the attractions of being a high school official.

Lynch mentioned the wide array of training and slow upbringing as two reasons why officiating should also be attractive. Officials are started at lower level games with a veteran helping to train. They also go through scrimmages and numerous meetings before the season starts.

If you areinterested in being an official, you can contact Lynch directly - his phone number is 918-214-3700.
