High School Hoops Back on Friday

We have some high school basketball on the airwaves on Friday evening, with a few area matchups of interest.

Most clubs have been off since mid-to-late December for Winter Break. First off, Dewey will travel to Pawhuska. On the guy’s side, Pawhuska is 6-5 while Dewey is 1-6.

Neither team has played each other this season yet. We will have that game on 99.1 FM – KPGM. Pregame begins around 7:50 between the Bulldoggers and the Huskies.

Another area matchup will pit Barnsdall at Hominy. Both those clubs are in Osage County, but the similarities end there. The Panthers are one of a handful of teams still undefeated in Class 2A at 9-0 and No. 18 in the state. Hominy has struggled out of the gate, the Bucks have only one victory thus far. Barnsdall head coach Clif Warford talks about what his team worked on over the holiday break.

The final game in the area we are watching tonight is also an area matchup between Nowata and Caney, KS. Nowata has been a bit of a surprise this far, with a 7-2 record and an entirely new team.

The Ironmen had to basically replace every meaningful minute they played last year, but have still sprinted out to a hot start to begin the season. Caney Valley has a couple of wins. The Bullpups are under direction of their first-year head coach Jim Deaton.

We will have that game for you on KRIG 104.9, with pregame set for 7:50 and an 8:00 scheduled tip off.
