Both the Bartlesville basketball teams came up short in day No. 2 of the ConocoPhillips Arvest Invitational on Friday.

The Lady Bruins and Bruins will both play for 3rd place in their own tournament on Saturday evening.

First, the Bartlesville girls were overwhelmed against a talented Choctaw club. The Lady Jackets topped BHS 68-28.

Bartlesville took better care of the basketball, but faced an uphill battle against an undefeated and No. 6 ranked team in the state.

On the guy’s side Bartlesville showed some major guts, losing in a comeback effort to Midwest City, 57-51.

BHS trailed Midwest City by 13 at halftime and had two separate 17-point deficits, but Bartlesville would rally back. A 15-1 run over six minutes late in the third quarter and early in the fourth got the Bruins back in the game.

Bartlesville got within three on this Jordan Carter three-pointer.

The Bruins were without a starter in Aadhi Ayyapan. Carter stepped up, scoring a game-high 23.

The Bartlesville girls will take on Carl Albert at 4:00 on Saturday. The Bruin guys are scheduled to face Bixby at 5:30.

Both those games will air on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3. You can watch the games as well on KWONTV.com.
