Eagles Win Instant Classic to Clinch First KCAC Title

The top-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan men's team won an instant classic over sixth-ranked Southwestern on Saturday to clinch the school's first ever Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference title. OKWU defeated the Moundbuilders, 97-95 in double overtime to finish the regular season at 28-2.

Senior guard Jake Feickert won the game for the Eagles on a layup with just two seconds left. Here is the final call.

The second overtime was as tight as the rest off the ballgame. K.J. Malveau was a facilitator for the Eagles offense scoring 24 points and racking up five assists. Malveau hit several big shots down the stretch and also assisted Feickert's game-winning bucket.

Earlier in the game the Eagles held the lead at 76-73 with less than thirty seconds left in regulation. Southwestern would score and-one basket to level the game at 76 to force overtime. OKWU trailed 88-85 with seconds remaining when freshman Brooks Haddock knocked down a clutch three-pointer to extend the game and keep hope alive.

This is the first conference title for OKWU since 2011 when they were in the Midlands Conference during Donnie Bostwick's first stint as Eagles head coach. Bostwick talks about the incredible win.

The Eagles officially have punched their to NAIA national tournament next month. Next up for OKWU is the KCAC tournament. OKWU will play Bethany in the first round at Mueller Sports Center on Thursday.
