The Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball team will get its postseason underway on Wednesday afternoon as they take on Bethel-Indiana in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament.

The tournament features 32 teams from around the country and is single-elimination. OKWU is the fourth seed in the Naismith bracket while Bethel is the five seed.

The Eagles hit their stride in the second half of the season as they won 17 of their last 20 games. Most recently the Eagles cruised through the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament winning three games in four days to punch their ticket to the national tournament.

OKWU has relied heavily on junior guard K.J. Malveau who was named the KCAC Newcomer of the Year and was also named to the All-KCAC first team. Malveau averaged 22 points per game in the last eight games of the season. OKWU head coach Donnie Bostwick talks about Malveau’s development.

After eight days of rest the Eagles will take the court again for a 1:45 p.m. tipoff. They’ll be taking on a talented Pilots team that won 22 games in the regular season.

James Westling will have the call on 1500 AM—99.1 FM KPGM.

We’ll have more on OKWU in the NAIA National Tournament throughout the week.
