Eagles Sweep Central Baptist
Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles baseball team extended their winning streak to seven games Saturday afternoon at Doenges Stadium with a pair of wins over Central Baptist 5-4 and 10-7.
In the first game, the Eagles led 3-0 going into the top of the fifth when Central Baptist tied the game at three. OKWU scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 5-3 lead. Central Baptist scored a run in the top of the ninth, but it wasn't enough as the Eagles survived game one. Central Baptist out hit OKWU 11-9, but committed three errors. Connor Garcia picked up the win for the Eagles. In seven innings of work, Garcia gave up three runs on nine hits, walked two, and struck out two. CJ Gregory got the save. Cody Riley went 3 for 4 with a homerun and a RBI while Jose Ruiz, Jerret Hardy, Nick Palese, Jake Palese, Landon Cloud, and Mason Feeler each got a hit.
In the second game, Central Baptist led 4-3 going into the bottom of the fourth and that's when OKWU came storming back, scoring two runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth, and scored three runs in the sixth to complete the weekend series against Central Baptist. OKWU out hit Central Baptist 11-6. Errors cost Central Baptist another game as a team committed four errors. Brendin Vogt picked up the win while CJ Gregory got the save. The Palese brothers Jake and Nick each got a homerun while Landon Cloud went 2 for 2 with a double. Chris McElderry, Cody Riley, Asa Manship, and Mason Feeler each got a hit.
With the four-game sweep over Central Baptist, the Eagles are now 24-14 overall and 9-3 in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
