Doggers Bring Improved Passing Game into Rivalry

The Dewey Bulldoggers are looking to make it four wins in a row over Nowata in the best rivalry in Northeast Oklahoma, “The Battle for the Adam Hooper Trophy.” The Doggers are coming off of a close loss to Adair, 32-14 last Friday. Dewey trailed by just four points entering the fourth quarter.

The Doggers passing game showed vast improvement from a year ago in the opener. First-year head coach Trent Turner says he was pleased with the play of quarterback Kale Carner.

Carner completed 10 passes for 208 yards and one touchdown in the loss. Last year, Carner ran for 181 yards and two touchdowns against the Ironmen as the Doggers primary tailback. Carner started the final six games of the 2018 season under center. The senior says the quarterback position is coming to him more naturally.

Dewey makes the trip over to Nowata on Friday night. Join us for the Tri-County Tech tailgate starting at 5 p.m. in the NHS parking lot. KRIG 104.9 FM will broadcast with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
