The Adam Hooper Trophy stays in Dewey as the Doggers used a three-headed monster in the rushing attack to topple Nowata 35-7. This is the third consecutive year that Dewey has won this rivalry game.

The team’s struggled through and injury and penalty-riddled first quarter before the Doggers struck first with an eight-yard rushing touchdown from Kale Carner with eight minutes left in the first half.

Dewey would add a score on a five-yard connection from Chase Revard to Zane Lorenz and Carner would add another with a 12-yard scamper in the final minute before halftime. Dewey led 21-0 at halftime.

Lorenz would find the endzone again on a 12-yard run to stretch the lead. He finished the day with 100 yards on the ground. As did Carner who was the bellcow back for Dewey in the game. Cole Brown was also effective out of the backfield.

The Doggers final score came on well executed play-action pass from Revard to tight end Grant Johnson for an eight-yard touchdown strike.

Nowata would drive down and score on the final play of the game when backup quarterback Dillon Barnes linked up with Nick Steigerwald on a 14-yard touchdown pass.

Barnes eclipsed 100 yards on the ground compiling most of Nowata’s total yards with his legs.

Dewey moves to 1-1 and will rest up with a bye week. While Nowata hosts Vinita next Friday for its home opener.
