Dewey Gets Big Win Over Caney Valley

The Dewey Bulldoggers kept the momentum going into winter break with a 74-64 victory over Caney Valley, Kansas on Friday night.

The Doggers found themselves trailing by double digits in the first quarter after a barrage of outside shot went down for Carter Brown of the Bullpups who had 11 first quarter points. Dewey trailed 24-13 after one quarter but stifling defense brought them back into the game in the second. The Doggers allowed just seven points in the period and took a 31-29 lead to halftime.

Both teams traded blows in the third quarter with a slight advantage given to the Bullpups as they took a one point lead into the fourth quarter. Dewey started to flex its muscle in the final quarter and pulled away to its fourth consecutive victory.

The Doggers outside shooting excelled in the victory as they made 11 three-pointers. Nobody shot the ball better than Blayz Rippy who had five three-balls of his own and finished with a team-high 25 points.

Dewey is now 5-2 on the season and won’t play again until after the new year.
