It may be the middle of winter in Bartlesville, but it is not in Arizona.

A familiar Bartlesville name is getting set to help run one of the biggest early weekends in golf starting on Thursday.

Chance Cozby is the Tournament Chairman of the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open. Chance’s dad, Jerry, was the longtime and often nationally recognized pro at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville. Chance has a fulltime role with Ping Golf – Ping allowed Cozby to run the tournament this year, and it is a big undertaking.

The Phoenix Open is one of the largest attended golf events in the world.

Last year, more than 719,000 people visited the TPC Scottsdale course for the tournament. That topped a record of 655,000 people in 2017.
