Copan-Wesleyan Christian Pick Up First Win

One of the biggest stories of week one high school football in the area was the victory of Copan-Wesleyan Christian against Wilson-Henryetta.

The Mustangs and Hornets combined forces for a blowout victory, 46-0 with a running clock in the second half to help things along.

The stands were full, and football was finally back in Copan in more than a year thanks to a co-op between two Washington County Clubs. Here is head coach Shane Page.

The game itself was never in doubt. The first score of the new co-oped team showed what combining forces has done for the two teams. Zein Fisher, a Hornet, took the opening kickoff to the house. Then a Mustang, Austin Cobb, ran in the two-point conversion.

A perfect balance and the best of both worlds. Page coached the offense to 46-points. While Wesleyan Christian head coach Curt Cloud coached the defense to a shutout. Cloud talks about the performance.

Copan-Wesleyan Christian will play another home game on Friday, this time in Bartlesville at Wesleyan Christian’s home field against Summit Christian.
