College of The Ozarks Sweeps OKWU

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles and Lady Eagles basketball teams played their final regular season games at College of the Ozarks Saturday afternoon at Point Lookout, Missouri.  The Lady Eagles missed a last-second shot that could have sent the game into overtime, but the Lady Bobcats clinched the MCAC regular season title with a 72-70 win.  The Eagles led as many as 19 points before falling to the Bobcats 86-79.

It was two top 20 teams battling for the MCAC regular season title as #14 Lady Eagles took on #19 College of the Ozarks.  The Lady Bobcats led 41-36 at halftime, but OKWU outscored C of O 35-31 in the second half and still fell short.  Both teams shot the ball well as the Lady Eagles shot 42 percent from the field.  C of O out rebounded OKWU 37-30,  Susan Agesen led the Lady Eagles with 17 points.  The loss drops the Lady Eagles to 25-5 overall and 11-3 in conference.  College of the Ozarks clinches the regular season title and will host the MCAC Tournament later this week.  Lady Eagles finished second in conference play.

In the men's game, OKWU led for about 30 minutes in the contest and that's when #10 College of the Ozarks started to wake up.  The Eagles led 48-37 at halftime but were outscored 49-31 in the second half.  OKWU led as many as 19 points early in the second half.  Tat's when C of O stormed back, taking advantage of OKWU's 21 turnovers, and ending with a seven point victory. The Eagles had four players in double figures.  Leading the way was CJ Cole's 18 points and 11 rebounds while Nikola Stjepanovic added 16 points.  Cole Johnson finished with 13 points while Steven Cooks added 12 points and 10 rebounds.  The Eagles shot the ball well finishing the game shooting 54 percent.  The loss drops OKWU with a 7-22 overall record and 1-13 in MCAC play.
