Caney Valley Football Hoping for Big 2021 Season

The Caney Valley football has set some lofty goals for itself this summer ahead of the season opening in late august. The Trojans are on the heels of an important year that saw them rebound to a 5-5 regular season record.

Thanks to the OSSAA playoff expansion all teams were allowed to compete in the postseason. This was important for Caney Valley despite a 47-6 loss to Quapaw in the first round. Veteran head coach Stephen Mitchell knows that football success hasn’t always been easy to find for the school. However, Mitchell has big aspirations for the 2021 season.

Mitchell is hoping to have around 40 guys on roster which would be a very competitive number for a Class A school. The Trojans have a wealth of returning talent and could be an under-the-radar program in the area this year.

Caney Valley will open the 2021 season at Hulbert on September 3. We will have more on the Trojans and other area programs as the offseason continues.
