It is the first week of high school football, as Zero Week begins on Friday evening. Many area teams will kick off their seasons, including Bartlesville.

At Bartlesville High, the Bruins will open up the season on the road at McAlester. BHS beat the Buffaloes a season ago in its opener at Custer Stadium. On Friday evening, it is Bartlesville that will have to make the two hour drive south.

McAlester has won 18 games the past two years. The Buffaloes are a powerhouse in class 5A. They lost in the second round of the playoffs a season ago. Fighting that tradition can be hard on the road. Here is Bartlesville head football coach John McKee.

The Bruins have the majority of their starters back from a season ago, but they will be breaking in a new quarterback, as Noah Sunday makes his first varsity start.

It will be a 7:30 kickoff from McAlester, with a 7:00 pregame on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
