Bruins Lose Homecoming to Muskogee

The Roughers are no fluke.

Muskogee stayed undefeated on Friday night, beating Bartlesville 63-6 at Custer Stadium.

Muskogee is 4-0, and looks like it might be on a path to compete for a district championship. The Bruins ran right into the Rougher buzz-saw during its homecoming game and first district contest of 2016. BHS only scored once, and Muskogee pulled away amid three Bartlesville turnovers in the second quarter.

The first-half seemed evenly matched. Had it not been for a couple big Muskogee running plays and a nearly 100-yard pick-six from division one product Kameron Curl, the score at half time would have been close. However, the scoreboard read 35-6 Muskogee, and it only got more one-sided from that point on.

Bartlesville (1-3) cut a 14-0 Rougher lead to 14-6 early in the second quarter after two key fourth down conversions ended in a 13-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Meidl to AJ Archambo. That would be the Bruins only score of the game.

Unofficially, Bartlesville managed only 129 total yards of offense.

BHS will continue district play at Ponca City on Friday. You can hear that game on KWON - AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
