Bruins Hope to Get Ponca Back

Bartlesville High football starts its final three games of the season with a playoff possibility in its sights.

BHS will have two of its final three games at home, starting with Ponca City on Thursday. Ponca City has struggled this year, going 0-7. Bartlesville is coming off its worst loss of the season, a 65-6 loss against Bixby. Bruin head coach Lee Blankenship says he wants his club to put that performance in the rear view mirror as quickly as possible.

Bruin tailback DeAndre Young will likely return to the starting lineup. Young has either not played, or has been extremely limited in the past two games after suffering an ankle injury against Sapulpa in the second half.

Having one of the best running backs in Oklahoma, along with an improving passing game, should help an already successful Bartlesville offense. Blankenship talks about Young’s return.

The only victory Ponca City has in the past 20 months came in Bartlesville a year ago, when Ponca beat the Bruins 14-12 to take home the ConocoPhillips Bowl. The Wildcats are still breaking in a new quarterback, as their starter suffered a fractured vertebrae two weeks ago.

Listen to the entire Lee Blankenship Show from Wednesday.

Kick off at 7:00 PM with a 6:30 pregame on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.

You can listen online at BartlesvilleRadio.com and on the Bartlesville Radio App.
