Bruins Drop Third Straight Close One

Bartlesville High baseball lost its third game in a row on Monday night, and it unfortunately was the same script the Bruins have had before in close district games.

Bartlesville struggled to move runners, and could not come up with a timely hit in a 3-1 loss at Stillwater.

The Pioneers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a two run lead to the seventh. BHS would load the bases with one out, before a game-ending double-play took care of the Bruin threat.

Bartlesville scored its one run on its only timely hit, as the KWON Intern Calvin Johnson stayed hot with this single and RBI in the sixth.

The Bruins had some opportunities. BHS had runners in scoring position in the second, fourth, fifth and seventh innings, but could not come away with any runs. BHS hit into two double-plays and left seven runners on base.

Bartlesville has now lost four of its six district games by two runs or less, or in extra innings.

The Bruins will be back after it against Stillwater on Tuesday night to wrap up the district series.

Another 6:00 PM first pitch from Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
