Bruins Battled Bixby

For Bartlesville High football, there is nowhere to go but up.

The 6A-II powerhouse Bixby Spartans came into Custer Stadium and beat the Bruins.

BHS fell 71-0.

Bartlesville showed some life early. BHS tallied five first downs in the first quarter and a half. The Bruins had a serious threat to score after a muffed Spartan punt set them up with good field position.

After the game, head coach Jason Sport said there were plenty of guys fighting hard every down.

Thing’s don’t get a ton easier for the Bruins moving forward. Bartlesville travels to another state title contender, Booker T. Washington, this coming Friday night. More on that game throughout the rest of this week.

Dewey, Nowata, Caney Valley and Owasso all lost their district openers this past Friday. Meanwhile Pawhuska, Wesleyan Christian, Oklahoma Union and Caney, Kansas picked up district wins. Barnsdall also had a good second-half in a non-district victory over Claremore Christian.

Week No. 5, the midway point of the season, upcoming on Friday night.
