The Bruins continue to come close to pulling the big upset, but fall just short.

That was the story on Saturday night at Bruin Fieldhouse, as Bartlesville lost to Carl Albert in the ConocoPhillips Arvest Invitational, 63-44.

BHS had lead the undefeated Titans (11-0) at halftime, but couldn't hold on. CAHS had two big runs, one at the start of the third quarter, and the other at the end of the third, that doomed Bartlesville.

Mason Harrell, who was named tournament MVP, was fouled while shooting a three-pointer at the end of the third quarter. His free-throws capped an 11-0 run from the Titans in the final 50 seconds of the third quarter.

Bartlesville couldn't get any closer than 14 in the final quarter of play, and the Bruins finished second in their tournament for the third straight year.

Seniors Barron Tanner and AJ Archambo were named to the all tournament team. Harrell, a 5-8 guard, scored 31 points for Carl Albert on Saturday, he averaged nearly 29 points per game in the three-game spurt.

The Bruins and Lady Bruins will continue regular Frontier Valley Conference play on Tuesday at Bixby. It will be a 6:30 tip for the girls, with the boys to follow on KWON - AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
