Bruin Homecoming a Big One for BHS Football

At Bartlesville High, the Bruins will be celebrating Homecoming on Friday evening, as the Sapulpa Chieftains come to Custer Stadium for the second district contest of the season.

Both squads lost against arguably the toughest two teams in the district last week.

The Bruins (1-3) fell at Booker T. Washington 43-6, while Sapulpa got blasted against Bixby 45-0.

Bartlesville is looking to stay consistent into the second halves of ballgames. The Bruins have been close to some of the best squads in the state through the first half of the last three games. BHS head coach Lee Blankenship says he knows his team is capable of putting it all together.

Sapulpa presents an interesting challenge. The Chieftains are much improved already, at 3-1 on the season.

Many are seeing them as a dark horse to enter the playoffs. Dual threat quarterback Eli Williams will be a handful for the Bruin defense. Williams has rushed and passed for more than 100 yards in two of Sapulpa’s four games thus far.

A victory over Sapulpa could mean a lot for playoff chances down the line for BHS. Blankenship says the team doesn’t talk about it, but the coaches know what is on the line this evening.

Bartlesville hosting Sapulpa, a 7:00 PM kick on Friday evening with a 6:30 pregame show, listen to the game on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.

We will also have the KWON Tailgate Party just outside the South side of Custer Stadium before the ballgame.

And the broadcast can be heard worldwide on BartlesvilleRadio.com and on the Bartlesville Radio App.
