Bartlesville High performed admirably in a loss at home against Bixby on Thursday night at Custer Stadium.

The Spartans topped the Bruins 37-21. The game was a back and forth battle after the Bartlesville defense forced three fumbles in the first half. Down 9-0, John Cone got BHS on the board with this 70-yard grab.

The Bruins were behind 23-7 until they got the ball back on the Bixby 15 after a muffed punt with a minute left before halftime. Noah Sunday made it a nine-point game at the break.

The Bruins had two possessions down by nine in the third quarter but could not get any closer. Bixby scored 14-unaswered points in the third, BHS had two interceptions in that span. That was enough for the Spartans to pull away.

Bartlesville got a fourth-quarter touchdown to Gavin Jones to cut the lead back to 16, but there would be no more scoring from that point on.

The Bruins fall to 2-6 on the season. Bartlesville is next in action on Friday, Oct. 27 at Sand Springs.
