Bruin Football Has Strong Summer

There is exactly four more weeks until the start of fall camp for high school football, and Bartlesville High Bruins are still hard at work until football related activities can begin.

Strength and conditioning has continued, and will keep on until the fall. The final couple weeks of 7-on-7 drills went well, and first year head coach Jason Sport says he is excited for what is next.

Position battles will continue from the summer into the fall, and Sport was not ready to name a quarterback. Last year’s starter, Ben Winters, has been in a battle against an up-and-comer in Paxton Bradford. Bradford was a backup quarterback a year ago while also starting some on defense. Sport says regardless of who ends up winning that spot, the offense will be in good hands.

Sport credits offensive coordinator Jason Munoz for Winters' progression this past season as a junior. Munoz was the team’s associate head coach and quarterback’s coach a season ago before getting the coordinator spot under Sport.

Winters is coming off a solid first year as a starter, throwing for 1,540 yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
