Bruins Finally Open Up Football Season

It has been nearly nine months since Bartlesville High made a hire at head football coach, and the program's first test under new leadership comes on Friday.

The spring, summer and fall have been a long lead for Bruin football, as Bartlesville opens the year on the road at Claremore.

BHS head coach Lee Blankenship was hired back in December. His positivity and engaging personality has created quite a buzz around the program, which culminates against the Zebras.

Claremore is no pushover. The 5A Zebras are coming off back-to-back playoff appearances and have the majority of their offensive skill players back from a 7-5 team a season ago. Blankenship says his defense, and particularly his linebackers, need to have a good night tonight.

There are a ton of newcomers in 2018, but Bartlesville will start some veterans in the backfield on offense.

Noah Sunday got the nod at quarterback and DeAndre Young at tailback. Both are in their senior campaigns.

It will be a 7:00 PM kickoff from Claremore, with a 6:30 pregame.

You can hear the play-by-play broadcast on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3.

The game will stream live on BartlesvilleRadio.com and on the Bartlesville Radio App.
