Bruin Basketball Still On as Scheduled

The Bartlesville boys and girls basketball games are still on as scheduled for next week. The Bruins and Lady Bruins are set to begin the season on Dec. 1 at Muskogee.

KWON got a look at both the clubs during our annual Coach's Breakfast Broadcast.

Both the boys and girls have interesting story lines entering the 2015 season. The Boys are under second year head coach Clent Stewart. Three of the Bruin's starters were still in football practice as of Saturday.

BHS was a .500 team in 2014. The Bruins lost their leading scorer from this past year, Antonio Castillo. However AJ Archambo, AJ Parker, Tanner Thompson and Barron Tanner all return significant minutes from last year's team.

INTERVIEW WITH CLENT STEWART

On the lady's side, BHS has a new coach and will look for a new leader. Krista Binam is in her first year as the Lady Bruin's skipper. Binam was hired from Bixby this past offseason. STORY

Binam inherits a young squad, after Bartlesville graduated Hailey Tucker this past year. Tucker averaged more than 20 points per game as a senior. Lauryn Washington will be one of the main leaders for this year's team. Washington was injured early in 2014, and was the Lady Bruin's second leading scorer before she went down for the year.

Bartlesville returns a slew of other younger players who played minutes in 2014, as well.

BINAM'S INTERVIEW

Both squads are scheduled to play at Muskogee then host Owasso on Dec. 4 in the first week of the season. Should either of those games be moved because of the Bruin's run in the football playoffs, KWON will pass that along.
