Bruin Baseball Back in Regional Thursday

Bartlesville baseball survived to see another day after day one of the Bruins Regional at Union High School on Wednesday.

BHS dropped game one to Sapulpa in a heartbreaker 3-2, but rebounded to pound Putnam City West 17-3 in the nightcap loser’s bracket game.

Bartlesville will still face elimination on Thursday, game one will be at 4:00 PM against Sapulpa. If the Bruins could win that one, they would have to beat Union twice to go to state.

The eventual 14-run win in game two was not easy as it would appear.

PC West lead BHS into the fifth inning, but the Bruins bats came alive against the Patriots bullpen, Jakob Hall hit a bases clearing triple that would give BHS the lead for good.

Bradee Rigdon came into the contest with two outs in the second inning and shut the Patriots down for the next four frames during a gutsy outing. With Bartlesville trailing, Rigdon had a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the third, but got out of trouble with back-to-back strikeouts to keep PC West at bay.

BHS will have to win three games in a row in order to advance to state.

We will have the Sapulpa-Bartlesville game on the radio on Thursday afternoon, a 3:50 or so pregame on Sports Talk 1500 AM and 99.1 FM – KPGM.
