Bruin Athletics Return on Saturday

Only one more day until Bartlesville High School can return to practice, as the day after Christmas will bring wrestlers, swimmers and basketball players back for the Bruins.

Saturday will end a two week shut-down of Bartlesville Public Schools extracurricular activities because of a switch to virtual learning. The practices will be operated a bit differently than before, with extra precautions because of COVID-19.

All the practices, even junior high, will take place at the high school. Extra attention will be paid to the film of the practices, as well.

BHS Athletic Director Thad Dilbeck explains.

Just because there have not been organized team practices, doesn’t mean that student athletes were not working. Different coaches came up with workouts the students could do on their own. They also held meetings via Zoom.

Dilbeck says this year has brought a lot of different innovations to the athletic department.

The final decision on if or when activities fully return will depend on if Bartlesville Public Schools returns to in-person learning in January.
