Broken Arrow Sweeps Bartlesville

The Bruin baseball team lost both its games at Broken Arrow on a dreary Tuesday evening.

Bartlesville lost game one to BA 6-2 and were thaumped in game two 11-1 in five innings. The Bruins were forced to play a double header at Broken Arrow after Monday's game In Bartlesville was washed out.

BHS out hit BA in game one, but couldn't string together the hits it needed to get the offense going offensively.

The Bruins brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but AJ Archambo struck out, stranding the three runners on base, ending the scoring threat and the game.

BHS had scored in the second and fifth innings to keep the Tigers within striking distance. Gage Gardner drove in the run in the fifth inning with a two-out double that scored Colton Penrod. However, Gardner was thrown out at third base, trying to advance on a BA defensive miscue.

Two Bartlesville defensive blunders led to three Broken Arrow runs in the top of the second. Garrett Meidl dropped a fly ball  that was lost in the lights in left field. Then, the middle infielders had a miscommunication with Penrod in center field that allowed a seemingly harmless pop-up to reach the turf.

BHS never had much going in game two. BA jumped on Bruin pitching for three runs a piece in the first and second innings, then scored four runs in the third inning. Bartlesville got a run back in the top of the fifth to briefly avoid the run-rule, but BA answered in the bottom of the inning, ending the game early.

Bartlesville next hosts Union on Friday at 7:00. You can hear that game on KWON 1400 AM, 93.3 FM.
