BPS Happy to Open Doenges
We had the news early last week that Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium would be back open for the Glen Winget Tournament this coming week. This means that the 61st edition of the Bartlesville baseball tradition will be back at its home in downtown Bartlesville.
Bartlesville High Athletic Director Thad Dilbeck says that after the district considered the item for a while, he was happy to get to tell Doenges Ford Indians manager John Pannell the news.
Dilbeck went on to say that coming from an outside district, it is evident that people don’t take the facility for granted. He says that as time went on this summer, and as the district gathered more information, they felt more comfortable with being able to open up Doenges at this later date of July 1.
The Glen Winget will begin on July 2.
The Indians have only a handful of games before then, beginning this Thursday at Montgomery County on campus at Coffeyville Community College.
Bartlesville will then play double-headers on Friday and Saturday in Pittsburg, Kansas.
More on those games as the week moves on. The Indians are 7-11 thus far.
