Bond Issue Coming Up Fast

The upcoming bond issue is still on the top of minds for Bartlesville residents, as the vote is coming up in about a month on Aug. 13.

The details of the bond have been known since mid-May. There are a few athletic ventures, including turf at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium and a partial funding for a new press box at Custer Stadium.

Although those upgrades would specifically benefit the Bartlesville High Athletic Department, the upside would likely continue to the public at large. BHS athletic director Spence Rigdon explains.

The Custer Stadium press box has been in place since 1954 with no major upgrades. The 65-year-old box is among the oldest in the state of Oklahoma.

Turf at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium could open up more opportunities for the stadium to host youth tournaments in town, along with regional-wide events in downtown Bartlesville.
