The Big 12 conference has approved its modified 2020 football schedule after a Monday Board of Directors meeting. The conference scheduling model will include nine conference games and 1 non-conference game.

The start of conference play will be finalized soon. Its anticipated start is sometime in mid-to-late September. The conference still expects to play its nonconference game before the start of league play, according to a release. Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said football needs to be safe whenever play starts.

Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione confirmed that OU-Texas will be played in October at the Cotton Bowl despite the cancellation of the Texas State Fair. The new model also gives the Conference flexibility to move back the Dr. Pepper Big 12 Championship game to December 12th or 19th.
