The Bartlesville track teams continued to shine at the 6A State Meet in Moore over the weekend, taking home major hardware.

BHS won three events.

The Lady Bruins took third as a team overall- despite having much smaller numbers than other 6A competitors.

Long distance running propelled the Lady Bruins throughout Friday and Saturday. Rilee Rigdon, Avery Bennett, Ashley Barnes and Shay Stayton combined to take first place in the 4 X 800m Relay (9:24). The squad set a school record in the process. The relay team had been the best in the state coming into the competition.

Rilee Rigdon grabbed a first place of her own in the girl’s 800m as well (2:11.02), another school record. Rigdon set another school record in the girl’s 1600m. She took second overall at 5:02.48. Barnes grabbed third and Stayton finished fifth in the same race.

Shay Stayton finished second in the girls 3200m at 11:33.33. Barnes finished third in that race, as well.

Then on the boy’s side Archer Bennett dazzled and won a gold medal in the boy’s 800m (1:58.06). Henry Williams continued his long-distance prowess with a second place finish in the 3200m (9:40.36)

AJ Parker finished third in the high jump (6-6)

Congrats to head coach Bon Bennett and the entire Lady Bruin and Bruin track teams on a tremendous season.
