BHS Hoops Split at BA

Bartlesville High had another split night in its first Frontier Valley Conference double-header in a week on Tuesday night at Broken Arrow.

The Lady Bruins have won 10 in a row and are heading into their matchup with Union this coming Tuesday with high stakes.

BHS blasted through Broken Arrow 65-38. The Lady Bruins held on for a double-digit win despite Chloe Martin being limited in the second half with four fouls.

Erika Gruber picked up some of the scoring slack. The sophomore forward score a career high 17 points to lead Bartlesville. That included this offensive rebound and put back in the fourth quarter.

There is a decent chance the Lady Bruins (13-2) next game against Union could be for the rights to host a regional. The Lady Redskins are a top-10 team in Class 6A. We will have more on that contest early next week.

Lady Bruins vs BA Box Score

On the guy’s side, a slow start dug the Bruins too big of a hole to dig out of. Broken Arrow topped Bartlesville 54-37.

BHS fell behind by 17 points in the second quarter after Bartlesville scored only two points total in the first quarter. Broken Arrow was aided by hot three-point shooting, as the Tigers had seven threes from just two players in the first half while building their lead. Bartlesville would not go away, however. The Bruins outscored BA in the second and third quarters and got within six at one point on this Tom Beard layup.

Bartlesville would have the ball down six a couple different times, but would fail to get any closer.

The BA game ends a brutal stretch of games for the BHS guys, who played 11 games over 16 days to start 2019.
