The Bartlesville girl’s tennis team placed second at the 6A State Tournament in Oklahoma City on Thursday.

The Lady Bruins tied for second place with Enid, while Edmond North and Jenks tied for first place.

Erin Epperson led the way for BHS, as a freshman she competed for the no. 1 singles state championship. Epperson finished as the runner-up falling to Southmoore’s Jordan Henry. That means Epperson has three more years to solidify her name as best in the state.

Megan Turcotte didn’t quite make the title match for no. 2 singles. She fell in the semifinals, but won her consolation match to finish third. To finish third, Turcotte beat Mallory Brookover from Bishop Kelley, who had beaten Turcotte in regionals just last week.

All the Lady Bruins took eighth or higher at the meet.

The no. 1 doubles team of Hayley Walton and Arianna Dysinger took eighth place, while the no. 2 doubles team of Bailey Covell and Marta Perez Gonzalez took sixth place.

Congrats to BHS tennis coach Brent Massey and all the Lady Bruins on a great season.

The Bartlesville boys will be fighting the raindrops for their state tournament in OKC starting on Friday afternoon.
