The Oklahoma Wesleyan men’s basketball team is a staple in our year on review series each year. In 2020 the Eagles top accomplishment was winning the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

OKWU entered the event as the No. 3 seed after a few late season slips. The Eagles beat Friends by 38 points in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals it was a Valentin Van Putten three-point play in the final seconds that gave OKWU the win.

The Eagles topped No. 1 seed Ottawa for the conference championship 74-68. Janson Lietzke scored a career-high 18 points in the win.  This was the third straight year OKWU had won either the KCAC regular season or tournament title. Head coach Donnie Bostwick talked about the win.

The Eagles would earn an automatic berth to the NAIA tournament and would knock off defending national champions Spring Arbor in the first round. The following day the tournament would be shut down due to COVID-19 concerns.
