Over the next few days we will highlight some of the best stories from the calendar year across Osage, Washington and Nowata counties, as our year in review will continue until 2020.

A familiar face was tapped to run Bartlesville’s summer baseball program back in late August. John Pannell told KWON sports that he was returning to be the manager of the Doenges Ford Indians for the summer of 2020.

The coaching veteran will also serve as an assistant on the staff of Bartlesville High School. Pannell says Baseball in Bartlesville holds a special significance to him.

Pannell ran the Indians from 2000 to 2010 previously before handing the reigns over to Anthoney Towers who led the team for the past eight seasons. Pannell also served on the baseball staff at BHS previously. He is excited about the chance to keep kids in Bartlesville over the summer.

Only one BHS varsity player was on roster for the Indians in the 2019 summer. Pannell is also looking forward to the opportunity to work with new Bruins head coach Cody Price in the upcoming season.

As for Towers, he will continue serving as assistant coach for Nowata High School with both the football and baseball teams.
