It was a landmark year for the Dewey Bulldoggers boys’ basketball team. The Doggers won nine consecutive games early in the season and set expectations high for a somewhat unproven group.

Obvious highlights from the season included two rivalry victories over Nowata, one of which saw Dewey nail 18 three-pointers to run away with an 86-74 road victory.

A goal set out at the beginning of the season was to win a conference championship and the Doggers did just that winning all eight of their conference games. The Doggers earned a home game in districts and throttled Cascia Hall 82-55. Coach Lance Knight talks about how special that game was.

The Doggers would have to go on the road from there losing to Millwood and then Keys in the Glenpool regional.

Dewey finished the season at 17-8.

The Doggers will have to replace Caston Frye, Blayz Rippy and Kameron Hayes who were the top three scorers on last year’s team. However, Dewey will return two starters in Hayden Thornton and Colby Henley who both made significant impacts in their sophomore campaigns.
