District play wrapped up for lower classification baseball over the weekend and today the OSSAA announced regional brackets. The regionals each consist of four teams with the top team advancing to the state tournament. The regionals are in double elimination format. Three area teams advanced.

Dewey continued its torrid stretch in 3A districts knocking off Newkirk, 5-2 and 11-1 to advance. The Doggers have now won nine consecutive games and have eclipsed the .500-mark for the first time this season.

Dewey will play its regional at Victory Christian in Tulsa along with Cascia Hall, Sperry and Victory Christian. The Doggers will match up with Cascia Hall to start off the tournament.

In class 2A, Caney Valley advanced after ousting Nowata handily, 11-1 and 15-5. At 16-8 on the season the Trojans made a strong case to be a regional host but instead will travel to Panama. Other teams in the regional include Chouteau-Mazie and Chelsea. Caney Valley will take on the Dragons in the opening game.

Oklahoma Union made quick work of Pawhuska to advance to regionals. The Cougars won 12-9 and 2-1 to pull off somewhat of an upset. They’ll now travel to Ketchum for a regional that also features Quapaw and Wyandotte.

The Cougars will play Ketchum in the opener, which is a team that already defeated them 8-4 back on March 17.

First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday for all three games.

Complete brackets for all classifications can be found here.
