Wednesday was a beautiful morning for a run, if you’re into that kind of thing, and that is exactly what the Bartlesville High cross country team is up to.

The Lady Bruins and Bruins are slowly starting their varsity workouts in preparation for the fall season. Practice could officially begin on July 15. David Ayers is back to lead both teams again, and he says his more experienced runners showed up ready to go this summer.

Ayers said almost all the varsity contributors should be on hand for practices within the next couple weeks. Several familiar names are back for BHS, including a trio of guys that will push BHS back toward the podium in 6A. Spencer Hales, James Boudreaux and Max Williams have been staples of the program.

The Lady Bruins are a bit younger, but will be led by two outstanding returns in Elena Fries and Jillian Skalicky.

The first meet for BHS cross country will be the last week of August.
