Bartlesville Wrestling Set For Districts

The Bartlesville wrestling team is getting set for the Dual District tournament on Tuesday in Bixby. BHS wrestling coach Josh Pulsifer says his team is ready for the challenge ahead. Right now the Bartlesville squad is wrestling without a full team. Injuries and departures have the Bruins at a disadvantage.

Pulsifer goes into detail about exactly what the lack of wrestlers does to Bartlesville's scoring in duals.

The lack of numbers does a few other things that may not even been seen in the final scores. Pulsifer wants his guys to be able to wrestle against one another in practice. A lack of bodies makes that harder, and puts individuals on the team at a disadvantage. Pulsifer says he has tried to get his guys work in other ways.

Pulsifer says that several Bruin's are primed to make runs at qualifying for state

Bartlesville doesn't have a big history of wrestling success, and Pulsifer says he knows that makes building a program a bit harder. He wants Bartlesville to start having a better tradition at qualifying guys for state. That all starts with getting more athletes out for the team.

As for this year, Pulsifer says that he is pleased with the number of guys he has competing at a high level, especially when compared to last year.
