Bartlesville Takes on Bixby

Both the Bartlesville boys and girls basketball teams are looking to rebound after their losses to Sand Springs on Tuesday. The good news for the Bruins and Lady Bruins; they get that chance quickly.

Bartlesville hosts Bixby on Friday night for a basketball double-header. Both teams are 5-5 on the year and both lost single-digit games to the Sandites on Tuesday.

BHS boys coach Clent Stewart talks about the loss to Charles Page. Stewart says that the Bruin's need to take better shots, and work through lulls on offense. Too many times Bartlesville's struggles on offense effects the defensive side of the ball. The 56 points the Bruins gave up to Sand Springs was the second-most points Bartlesville has given up all season.

Bad starts have also been a problem for BHS. First quarters against Union, Del City, Ardmore and Sand Springs all dug the Bruins a hole. Bartlesville was able to come back and win two of those games, but Stewart would rather have Bartlesville run's in the second quarter build a lead, than comeback from a deficit.

A positive out of the loss to Sand Springs was the production of the Bartlesville boy's bench. Lucas Rutter hit three three-pointers, Tanner Thompson provided good defense and gave BHS another outside threat, and Colton Penrod logged his first minutes in varsity action. Stewart says playing time is available for guys who want to compete.

The girls will tip off at 6:00, the boys at 7:30, you can hear both those broadcasts on KWON 1400 AM, 93.3 FM. And online here, at Bartlesvilleradio.com
