Both the Bartlesville High basketball teams played well at times, but could not close out their games against Broken Arrow last night.

On the ladies side BHS had a 16-point lead midway through the second quarter, but could never fully put BA away. The Lady Tigers came from behind to beat BHS 59-48. Broken Arrow scored the final 11 points of the game to earn the win, following a great four-point possession from Bartlesville that tied the game. The final bucket for BHS came on this Ali Wood stick back.

That basket came with 4:27 remaining, and Bartlesville (3-4) would not score again. The Lady Bruins have lost two straight. Lydia Knollmeyer led BHS with 13 points. Chloe Martin added 11, she was sidelined during the final stretch of the game with an apparent injury.

On the guy’s side, Bartlesville gave the No. 9 team in the state all they wanted. Broken Arrow held the Bruins scoreless for the final 6:29 of the game, to surge to a 56-38 win.

BHS (1-6) hung around for the majority of the game, holding as big as a six-point lead in the opening minutes. Aadhi Ayyappan and Gage Keaton were forces off the bench. Ayyappan hit four three-pointers to keep Bartlesville in the game late.

Ayyappan finished with 12 points going 4-5 from beyond the arc. He was the only Bruin in double-figures.

Both teams are next in the ConocoPhillips Arvest Invitational, which begins tomorrow at Bruin Field House
