Basketball is a game of runs, and basketball seasons can be filled with peaks and valleys. RIght now it looks like Bartlesville's basketball teams are peaking at the right time.

The BHS boys have won five of their last six. The Lady Bruins have won three of their last four. And both teams picked up nice wins on Tuesday night in Tulsa, sweeping Bishop Kelley.

The girls won first, beating the Lady Comets 58-44. Both teams started out hot, with BHS leading 17-15 at the end of the first quarter. but Bartlesville (9-7) poured it on from there. It was sloppy, but it worked. Hailey Tucker scored 30 points on five three-pointers. Rachel Behar added 12 and freshman Destiny Harris scored nine points off the bench, added several blocks and offensive rebounds.

The BHS 1-3-1 zone continues to give opponents fits. Bartlesville forced several turnovers in the victory. It was a nice bounce back win after the BHS girls didn't play well in the second half of their championship game against Collinsville in the Titan Classic on Saturday.

The boys continued the good play, cruising to an early lead, and not letting up. The Bruins topped Bishop Kelley 66-47. That is the most one-sided victory of the year for Bartlesville.

Antonio Castillo got things going quickly, scoring two three-pointers in the first quarter. Castillo had 18 at halftime, and finished with 25 points on five three-pointers. AJ Archambo added 11.

The Bruins (10-6) got it going at first from behind the arc, but Bartlesville put the game away down low. Barron Tanner and Tristan Crowder, who combined for two points in the first half, scored 10 in the second quarter. Colton Penrod scored four points off the bench, as a few JV players played significant minutes down the stretch.

Both Bartlesville teams host Muskogee on Friday for the annual Throwback game. We will have both those games, girls at 6:00, boys at 7:30 on KWON 1400 AM, 93.3 FM.
