Bartlesville Rallys Past Sapulpa

Bartlesville's baseball team is hot, about as hot as you can get.

BHS exploded offensively in an 11-10 walk-off victory against Sapulpa on Tuesday evening at  Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

AJ Archambo was the hero, although it didn't look like it would be that way. Archambo came on to close the game in the top of the seventh with Bartlesville leading 9-6. Sapulpa went on to score four runs, and retake the lead 10-9 going into the Bruin's final chance at the plate.

Colton Penrod led off the seventh with a single. Chase Fiddler doubled to left. Penrod then scored on a Gage Gardner sacrafice fly, leaving the door open for Archambo, who scored Fiddler on a single to right field, to win the game.

The hit from Archambo atoned for an unlucky and uneven pitching performance.

Sapulpa had one one with one out in the seventh before Wyatt Sellers and Ethan Williams reached on a walk and hit-by-pitch. David Bacon singled. Garrett Stanley grounded out, creating a two-out situation for Max Ryan, who singled to tie. Archambo couldn't get the big pitch to record the final out.

Sapulpa had led BHS 5-1 going into the bottom of the third, when Bartlesville did the majority of its damage. The Bruins sent 12 men to the plate during the inning, scoring six, and taking their first lead of the game.

Bartlesville next plays at Booker T. Washington in a rain-out make-up game on Thursday at 4:00.
