Bartlesville Loses On Senior Night

It wasn’t a perfect senior night, but Bartlesville will get a do-over.

BHS fell to Enid 4-1 on Monday night at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium during the Bruins senior night. Bartlesville will get another chance at the Plainsmen on Tuesday night in Enid. BHS will get another chance to get a home victory on Thursday, when the Bruins face Booker T. Washington in a rainout make-up game.

It was the top of the fourth inning that spelled disaster. Enid had five straight men reach base, three of them on infield singles, in route to three runs that would provide the Plainsmen more than enough ammunition to win the game. The ball only left the infield once in the fourth for EHS.

Bartlesville threatened a few times, but only produced one run in the sixth inning. The Bruins left two runners in scoring position in the second inning after Logan McNeill led off with a sharply hit single to center. The threat ended on a fly out from Joe Jones.

AJ Archambo, who led Bartlesville at the plate, hit a two-out double in the third. He was stranded after a Chandler Holliman ground out. Archambo finished the evening 2-3 with a double and a single.

Colton Penrod led off the fifth inning with a single. He was stranded in scoring position after back-to-back strikeouts.

Holliman, a senior, started and threw four innings. Only one of the runs he gave up was earned. He struck out four. Holman came on in relief. He gave up one run on three innings of work while striking out one.
