Both Bartlesville High basketball teams are into the semifinals of the ConocoPhillips Arvest Invitational on Friday after wins on Thursday night in the first round.

The Lady Bruins overwhelmed Life Prep Academy out of Wichita from the very start. BHS had 45 points and halftime and poured it on from there. Bartlesville won 82-55 – the 82 points a new season high in scoring. Bartlesville had set its previous high on Monday against Jenks with 72. Jena’ Williams led the way from the early going with 11 first quarter points, including this trey.

The Bartlesville girls (9-2) move on to face Southmoore in the semis on Friday evening, again at 7:00. The Lady Bruins have won six straight.

Meanwhile the Bruin guys survived a late test from Enid to win their first round game and snap a two-game losing streak. BHS topped Enid 54-42 for its fourth win of the year.

Jaylin Oliver was the hero for Bartlesville. He had 19 points at halftime, while building a 14-point lead at the break. Oliver came out firing at the start of the third quarter as well.

The Bruins would struggle on offense from there on out, making only three more field goals in the second half.

BHS had only one bucket in the fourth quarter, but would win on the back of good free throw shooting.
