Bartlesville Hosts First Basketball Game Friday

It is the final Bartlesville High basketball event before the Winter Break, as the Lady Bruins and Bruins finally have a home game on Friday evening.

BHS hosts Jenks for a Frontier Valley Conference double-header at Bruin Fieldhouse. It has been a weird schedule for both Bartlesville clubs in the early going. Different tournaments and finals week have kept BHS from getting in an early season rhythm.

The Bartlesville girls (3-2) have not played in 10 days, following a 57-49 win at Muskogee on Dec. 10. BHS is 3-2 on the girls’ side. Lady Bruin head coach Donnie Martin talks about the season thus far.

The Jenks girls should present a challenge, the Lady Trojans also stand at 3-2 on the season.

Meanwhile the Bartlesville guys are starting to find themselves as well, as the Bruins are only 1-4 to begin the season. BHS went 1-2 in three games in Tahlequah this past weekend. Head coach Clent Stewart says his team is trying to find ways to score the basketball with more consistency.

Bartlesville is averaging just 43 points-per-game thus far. Jenks will also present a big-time challenge for the guys, as the Trojans are a top-10 club in 6A, with their only loss coming to No. 1 Booker T. Washington.

Girl’s tip at 6:30 PM with the boys to follow about 8:00. We will have both games for you on KWON – AM 1400 and FM 93.3. You can also watch the games on KWONTV.com.
