The Bartlesville girl's basketball team showed fight and determination during its final game of the season, but ultimately fell in a dramatic matchup against Sand Springs in the first round of the 6A playoffs.

BHS lost to Sand Springs 58-56 in overtime at the Chieftains Center in Sapulpa on Thursday night. The loss ends Bartlesville's season. The Lady Bruins finish the year at 11-13,  having lost four games in a row.

Two free throws with .7 seconds remaining from Morgan Pennington, who had just hit a three-pointer to tie the game, provided the final score. Bartlesville had as much as a five-point lead in overtime, and as much as a six-point lead late in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't easy getting to that point.

BHS trailed Sand Springs 30-16 at halftime, but spurred by five second-half Hailey Tucker three-pointers, Bartlesville came all the way back. The Lady Bruins outscored Sand Springs 19-7 in the third quarter, and held onto a lead late in the game, until another run from the Sandites.

Things looked promising for Barlesville going into overtime. Freshman Erin Shoemaker banked in a three-pointer as time expired in regulation to tie the game and force the extra period. Bartlesville had trailed by six before Tucker hit one of her threes with just over 30 second left. Pennington missed the front end of an one-and-one for Sand Sings, then,  down three, Gabby Culver found Shoemaker on the right wing for the game-tying shot.

Tucker ended her great career with 22 points against Sand Springs, 18 of which game in a flurry in the second half. Ronni Gillard scored 10 points as well.
